Former First Lady Melania Trump opened up about the harrowing moments surrounding two assassination attempts on her husband, Donald Trump, and the FBI raid of their Mar-a-Lago home. Speaking to Fox News on Wednesday night while promoting her new book, Melania, she detailed her experiences during these tumultuous events.

In her book, Melania recounts what happened on July 13, the day of an assassination attempt on the former president. She was watching her husband’s rally on television when she paused the broadcast to start working. Moments later, she received a phone call from her chief of staff informing her of a shooting, told The Mirror US.

“I ran to the TV and rewound it,” Melania explained. “I was only a few minutes behind, I didn’t see it live, but maybe a few minutes later. When I saw it, nobody really knew yet. You see him on the floor, and you don’t know what really happened.”

Melania also addressed a more recent assassination attempt on September 15, when Donald Trump was golfing at his West Palm Beach resort. Secret Service agents spotted the muzzle of a semi-automatic rifle protruding from bushes near the course. The suspect, Ryan Routh, fled but was later apprehended in a neighboring county. Melania was in New York City at the time and saw the news unfold on television.

“I called immediately, and he was okay,” she recalled. “The Secret Service was fantastic. Both events were really miracles. If you really think about it, July 13 was a miracle. Just that much more, and he wouldn’t be with us.”

During the interview, Melania also spoke about the FBI’s August 2022 raid on their Mar-a-Lago home. She explained that the house manager texted her to inform her that the FBI was searching the property. According to Melania, agents searched not only her personal items but also her son Barron’s room.

“It made me angry. It was an invasion of privacy, and the way it was done really surprised me,” she said. “I saw unpleasant things that nobody wants to see, and you get angry because nobody should have to put up with that.” The FBI raided Trump’s Florida property in an effort to recover classified government documents that the Justice Department alleges the former president kept illegally after leaving office.

Melania’s reflections in her book and during the interview shed light on the personal toll of these high-profile incidents, highlighting both her resilience and frustration during some of the most trying moments in her family’s public life.
