Kevin Costner is reportedly dealing with financial difficulties following his split from Christine Baumgartner, compounded by the lackluster performance of his ambitious film project, Horizon: An American Saga.

Costner, who invested millions into the production, has seen disappointing results from the film’s debut, which failed to capture the audience’s attention. An insider speaking to In Touch Weekly revealed, “Kevin banked Horizon largely, but not entirely, on undeveloped California land he owns.”

The source explained that the reality of the situation is beginning to take its toll. “He’s likely going to have to part with this real estate and also reshuffle his other holdings to remain solvent after the disappointing showing of the first film in this saga.” The insider noted that Costner is making significant adjustments to keep the project alive.

“Kevin is reorganizing his life, his finances, and his possessions to continue funding the Horizon project for a couple more years,” the source continued. Despite the substantial investment of $38 million from his own pocket, the first installment of the four-part series grossed only $11 million during its opening weekend, falling short of its reported $100 million budget.

Before concluding, the insider added, “He’s operating on a wing and a prayer, but he’s also a realist. He knows he may have to part with some of his valuable assets to see this project through to the end.”

Costner’s determination to move forward with Horizon highlights his commitment to his vision, even as he navigates financial and personal challenges.
