Lenny Kravitz Reveals Heartbreaking Truth About His Relationship with Daughter Zoë
Lenny Kravitz, the rock icon known for his cool demeanor and bold fashion choices, recently acknowledged that his daughter Zoë Kravitz likely doesn’t see him as “cool” — and he’s totally fine with it. In a candid interview with PEOPLE, Lenny embraced the reality of fatherhood, admitting that Zoë likely never viewed him through the adoring lens of his fans.
“I don’t think she’s ever gotten to that place, and you’re not supposed to,” Lenny, 60, shared with a laugh. “She appreciates me for who I am but will always get a good laugh because you are the kid’s father. They’re not going to see you how all those other folks see you. They see everything.”
Zoë, a successful actress, singer-songwriter, and director, is known for her sharp wit, especially when it comes to her dad. At Lenny’s Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony in March 2024, Zoë delivered a heartfelt speech that also featured a playful roast of her father’s iconic fashion style.
“According to my dad, if it doesn’t expose your nipples, it’s not a shirt,” Zoë joked, sending the audience into fits of laughter. “Your relationship with the netted shirt is probably your longest one.”
Lenny took the playful jabs in stride, later discussing them on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. “It was quite appropriate,” he said, appreciating his daughter’s humor. Reflecting further on the incident, Lenny told PEOPLE, “It’s wonderful because I love that perspective that you’ve been a bit of an embarrassment at times!”
Despite being the subject of his daughter’s playful teasing, Lenny continues to enjoy a thriving career. He recently announced a five-show residency in Las Vegas, titled Blue Electric Light Las Vegas at Park MGM, scheduled for August.
Lenny Kravitz’s willingness to embrace his “embarrassing” dad status while maintaining his cool rockstar persona exemplifies the warmth and humor at the heart of his relationship with Zoë, proving that even legendary rock icons aren’t immune to good-natured ribbing from their kids.
