Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) claimed that Democrats are likely to impeach President Donald Trump again and accused them of harboring extreme hostility toward Republicans, even suggesting they would “kill us if they could.” Her comments came during an interview with Steve Bannon on Monday following Trump’s inauguration.

Bannon initiated the conversation by discussing the prospect of future impeachment efforts by Democrats. “I gave a speech last night, we’ve got to fight, fight, fight today because all this unity with them is totally phony,” Bannon said, referring to Democratic leaders.

“They’re going to try to chop block President Trump and get Hakeem Jeffries back in and impeach him.” Greene strongly agreed with Bannon’s assessment. “Completely,” she said. “Steve, there’s no unity. No. Absolutely not. No.”

Greene escalated her rhetoric by accusing Democrats of extreme animosity toward Republicans. “These people would line us up in front of a firing squad and kill us if they could,” she said. “We know exactly who the Democrats are. Their mask is off.”

The fiery comments highlight Greene’s ongoing opposition to Democratic leadership and her belief that partisan divisions remain irreconcilable. Her remarks come amid heightened political tensions, with Democrats and some Republicans critical of Trump’s controversial actions and rhetoric leading into his second term.

Speculation about potential impeachment proceedings has also grown, given Trump’s polarizing policies and his promises to pardon January 6 rioters. Greene has been one of Trump’s staunchest allies in Congress, frequently defending him and amplifying claims of Democratic hostility.

Her assertion that Democrats harbor such extreme intentions has drawn sharp criticism from political observers, who argue such statements contribute to the growing polarization and mistrust between the parties.

The Biden administration’s efforts to focus on unity and bipartisan collaboration during its tenure were often met with skepticism from Republicans like Greene, who argue that Democrats’ calls for unity are disingenuous. In contrast, Democrats accuse Greene and other Trump loyalists of undermining democratic norms through inflammatory rhetoric.

As Trump’s second term begins, Greene’s comments underscore the deeply entrenched divisions in Washington and foreshadow the contentious battles likely to unfold in the months ahead. Her remarks signal that calls for unity may face significant challenges from hardliners on both sides of the aisle.
