“That’s Bulls–t”: Rep. Nancy Mace’s Profane Rant Sparks Outrage at House Oversight Hearing
Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) drew sharp criticism from Democrats after a profane outburst directed at Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle during Monday’s House Oversight hearing. Mace expressed her frustration over Cheatle’s responses concerning the recent assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump.
“Would you say leaking your opening statement to Punchbowl News, Politico’s Playbook, and Washington Post several hours before you sent it to this committee as being political, yes or no?” Mace demanded. “I have no idea how my statement got out,” Cheatle replied.
“Well, that’s bulls–t,” Mace retorted. “Have you provided all audio and video recordings in your possession to this committee, as we asked on July 15th? Yes or no.” “I would have to get back to you on that,” Cheatle responded. “That is a no,” Mace shot back. “You’re full of s–t today.”
“Mr. Chairman!” a Democratic member shouted. “We have to maintain decorum in this committee, no matter how upset we get.” Despite the objection, Mace was allowed to proceed. “You are being dishonest or lying,” Mace insisted. “You’re being dishonest here with this committee.”
“These are important questions that the American people want answers to, and you’re just dodging and talking around it in generalities, and we had to subpoena you to be here, and you won’t even answer the questions,” she added, reported Raw Story.
Mace’s outburst highlights the escalating tensions in the House Oversight Committee as lawmakers seek clarity on security concerns and the Secret Service’s handling of the recent threats against Trump. The lawmaker’s blunt language underscored her frustration, but it also sparked a debate about maintaining professionalism and decorum in such high-stakes hearings.
While some Republicans might resonate with Mace’s fierce approach, the incident served as a stark reminder of the deeply polarized nature of current political discourse. Whether her aggressive tactics will yield the desired transparency remains to be seen, but the episode has certainly added fuel to the ongoing political fire.
