Pete Davidson Opens Up About Ongoing Struggle with Marijuana “I Can’t Quit Yet”
Comedian Pete Davidson, 30, recently opened up about his ongoing struggle with marijuana, admitting that he “can’t quit” the habit just “yet.” Despite making progress in overcoming other substance issues and seeking help for PTSD and borderline personality disorder in rehab, Davidson revealed that cannabis remains a significant challenge for him.
During his “Pete Davidson: Rehab Tour” in Atlantic City, Davidson shared candidly with the audience, saying, “I can’t quit [weed] yet. It’s all I have left. I did coke and ketamine and f****** all the pills and all that s***. All I have is weed left, so it’s almost over, but I’m holding on for a little bit longer,” as reported by the Daily Mail.
In August 2023, it was revealed that Davidson had explored using ketamine as a coping mechanism for his depression. The former Saturday Night Live star has battled depression ever since losing his firefighter father in the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
Davidson disclosed his use of ketamine, a horse tranquilizer, during a show at Madison Square Garden, according to Page Six. A source close to Davidson explained that he has been using a small amount of the drug, which the FDA has approved as a nasal spray for treating severe depression that hasn’t responded to other treatments. This is reportedly how Davidson has been using ketamine.
Davidson has been open about his mental health struggles. In a 2022 YouTube interview, he revealed, “I’m always depressed, all the time. I have to constantly bring myself out of it.” He elaborated on the depth of his challenges, stating, “I wake up depressed. My rock bottom is when people are scared for my life, and I have to go away, and then I have to bring myself back up again. I think I’ve hit it a few times.”
Davidson’s candidness about his mental health and substance use underscores the ongoing battle many individuals face. While he has made strides in addressing other addictions, his relationship with marijuana remains a complex and persistent issue.
