Trump’s Mental Health Questioned by George Conway: ‘A Deeply Unwell Man'”
George Conway, a conservative attorney and frequent critic of Donald Trump, raised serious concerns about the former president’s mental health on Monday, questioning why his family hasn’t intervened to get him the help he believes is urgently needed. Conway’s comments came after Trump claimed in a Truth Social post that Vice President Kamala Harris had shared a fake photo of crowds welcoming her at a Michigan airport.
Speaking on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” Conway expressed alarm at Trump’s behavior, stating, “As I’ve been yammering about for five or six years now, he’s a deeply unwell man. He is a deeply psychologically disturbed individual. If he were a member of your family, you’d be taking him, staging an intervention, and taking him into a psychiatric hospital.”
Conway went further, suggesting that Trump’s family should have already taken steps to address his mental health. “If Melania and Ivanka and Eric and Don Jr. care about their father, and I assume they do, they’d be doing that if they could. He is, as I’ve been saying, a narcissistic sociopath, a pathological narcissist, and a sociopath as defined by the American Psychiatric Association.
These are, historians will tell you, the traits of authoritarian dictators throughout history.” Conway compared Trump’s current state to the behavior of authoritarian leaders during their downfalls. “What we’re seeing now is, as you put it, an implosion,” he said. “This, I believe, is what ultimately was always going to happen, the final implosion of Donald Trump.
I mean, it’s like Hitler when Hitler was moving around divisions that didn’t exist in the last 10 days of the war in the Führer bunker. He has completely lost it.” Conway was particularly alarmed by Trump’s recent social media post, calling it “beyond question delusional.” He suggested that Trump’s erratic behavior is driven by the increasing pressure he faces, especially as he contends with legal battles and the upcoming sentencing on 34 felony convictions scheduled for September 18.
Trump is also under indictment in the District of Columbia and Georgia on election interference charges. “He is running for his freedom,” Conway said, emphasizing that Trump sees the presidency as his only path to avoiding jail time. “He’s going to go to jail if he does not win the presidency, and he can see that now.
That’s why he’s doubling down on the unreality. It is partly for self-soothing, partly because he can’t help it. He is a pathological liar, being a sociopath. What we are watching is … actually very, very sad.” Conway’s remarks underscore the growing concerns among some observers about Trump’s mental state as he faces mounting legal and political pressures.
