Pete Davidson Faces Struggles Amid Career Uncertainty and Breakup, Prioritizes Mental Health
After parting ways with actress Madelyn Cline and facing several unpredictable career shifts, comedian Pete Davidson is reportedly going through a challenging period in his life. According to an insider who spoke with the Daily Mail, “Pete is miserable most of the time.” As a result, Davidson is prioritizing his mental health and has checked into rehab to seek the support he needs.
The source explained, “Pete doesn’t have stability in his life right now. He does better when he has his s**t together and things are stable. For the first time in his career, things are unpredictable and that’s what’s been so stressful for him. There is a lot of pressure that comes along with uncertainty, and that stress can lead to bad thoughts.”
With no upcoming movies or TV shows scheduled, Davidson, a former Saturday Night Live cast member, has abruptly canceled his planned engagements, including his Prehab Tour, which was set to continue until mid-October. The insider added, “He has to be in the right mindset to get on stage and perform in front of thousands.”
Davidson is known for his ability to connect with audiences through humor, often using his life experiences as material for his comedy. However, the source noted, “He kind of puts on a front on stage because that’s his happy place, so sometimes people don’t even know what he’s seriously going through because he jokes about his life and he laughs along with his fans”, told Entertainment Tonight.
Following his split from Cline in July after 10 months of dating, Davidson has been relying on his family for support. The source mentioned that even some of his closest friends were unaware of his decision to seek treatment until they read about it in the news. “No matter what, they are wishing him the best and know that he’ll bounce back after getting the help he needs,” another source revealed.
Davidson’s friends had reportedly intervened months ago over concerns about his spending habits and lifestyle. “He was blowing through his money, and his friends gave him a wake-up call. He was spending thousands of dollars on private jets and trips,” the source said. Davidson and Cline were first romantically linked in September 2023, after they were spotted together at the Beverly Hills Hotel.
Despite their initial connection, the relationship had been “on and off” before ultimately fizzling out. Earlier this year, Davidson had been focusing on his personal life and career after the cancellation of his Peacock comedy series Bupkis, even though it had been renewed for a second season. Reflecting on the show, Davidson said,
“I’ve always seen Bupkis as a window into my life since it is so personal and about my struggles and family… After nearly a decade of my personal life being in the media, I wanted a chance to tell my story my way.” He added, “I do also feel that this part of my life is finished. I’m very excited for this next chapter and for you guys to see the work. Thank you to all who support me, for I am forever grateful.”
