Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni Could Reunite for It Ends With Us Sequel Despite On-Set Tensions
Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni may work together again following the controversy surrounding the film adaptation of It Ends With Us. The 40-year-old actress faced backlash after being accused of promoting the movie “insensitively” and earning a reputation as a “mean girl” during the film’s production.
Justin Baldoni, who directed the movie, also reportedly had issues with Lively’s behavior on set, branding the Gossip Girl star as “controlling.” The film, based on Colleen Hoover’s novel about an abusive relationship, became a hit despite the behind-the-scenes tensions.
Now, according to an insider who spoke to Life & Style, there’s hope that the two stars can set aside their differences for a sequel. “Sony is holding out hope that Blake and Justin Baldoni can come to some kind of understanding to get the It Ends With Us sequel off the ground in the next 18 months,” the source revealed.
The studio is reportedly doing everything in its power to ensure a smooth collaboration between the pair. “They’re doing everything they can to make that happen while respecting Justin and Blake for the job they’ve already done,” the insider added.
Despite the previous on-set friction, Lively is said to be open to returning for more films, provided the business proposition is appealing. The insider emphasized that any personal differences between Lively and Baldoni wouldn’t necessarily stop her from participating in future projects. “Her personality differences with Justin or anybody else wouldn’t be a deciding factor,” they said.
Ultimately, the source noted that the driving force behind the It Ends With Us franchise is financial success. “But IEWU is all about money, and it always has been,” they concluded. As Sony works to ensure both stars can find common ground, fans may soon see Lively and Baldoni back together on screen for the much-anticipated sequel.
