Jeannie Mai Shares Her Bold Plans to Embrace a Fresh Start in 2025
Jeannie Mai is ready to leave 2024 in the past as she looks ahead to a new chapter in 2025. In a candid interview with People, the Emmy-winning host opened up about her New Year’s resolution: letting go of the past and embracing the future with an open mind and heart.
“The lessons from this year are the lessons for this year,” Mai, 45, shared. “I’m excited for next year. I want to learn new things.”
Reflecting on her personal growth, Mai admitted that her approach to life has evolved, particularly as a mother. “I learned very humbly that all the things I believed in worked for me at a certain time in my life,” she said. “But now, there is a new set of rules because they’re not just for me; they’re for my daughter.”
Mai shares her two-year-old daughter, Monaco, with rapper and ex-husband Jeezy. The former couple finalized their divorce in June after two-and-a-half years of marriage and nine months of legal proceedings. Despite the challenges of navigating a public split, Mai remains focused on creating a positive future for herself and her daughter.
As she prepares for 2025, Mai revealed one of her key resolutions: honoring her feelings and intuition. “One of [the rules] is listening to myself — like actually listening to my feelings and not trying to prove myself different when your body’s telling you, ‘No, that ain’t cool’ or ‘That’s not okay’ or ‘That person is not safe,’” she explained.
Despite the personal setbacks she faced this year, including her divorce, Mai has ended 2024 on a high note professionally. She landed a role in Lifetime’s Christmas in the Spotlight, a holiday romance inspired by the real-life love story of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce. The project marks a new milestone in Mai’s career, showcasing her versatility and resilience.
Looking ahead, Mai’s focus remains on growth, both personally and professionally. Her reflections on the past year underscore her determination to move forward with intention and authenticity. “I’m excited for next year,” she said, “not just to learn, but to embrace the new rules that come with this stage of my life.”
As 2025 approaches, Jeannie Mai’s journey offers a powerful reminder of the importance of self-awareness, adaptability, and embracing change. For Mai, the lessons of 2024 will remain in the past, as she looks forward to building a brighter and more meaningful future.
