Jenna Dewan fires back at Channing Tatum’s new claims amid contentious divorce
Jenna Dewan, the ex-wife of Channing Tatum, has responded to Tatum’s recent claims in court regarding their protracted divorce proceedings. The Magic Mike star asserted that Dewan had been intentionally prolonging the divorce, which has been ongoing since 2018. He also claimed that the Step Up actress has rejected numerous settlement proposals he made over the past two years.
Despite sharing a daughter named Everly, the former couple has not yet reached an agreement on how to divide Tatum’s substantial earnings from the Magic Mike franchise. The first movie of the successful franchise premiered in 2012 when Tatum and Dewan were still married, and the 21 Jump Street actor co-produced it from his own pocket. Since then, Tatum has expanded the Magic Mike brand into multiple films, a live show, a reality series, and more, told People Magazine.
Responding to the claim, Dewan’s lawyer wrote, “Jenna is seeking trial management orders because the ownership of the story idea that comprises the Magic Mike Intellectual Property is the first question that must be answered before any of the other issues can be fairly litigated. In fact, but for Channing’s refusal to stipulate that the Magic Mike Intellectual Property currently held in two separate Property Holding Companies is equally divisible community property, this issue would not have to be tried first, or ever.”
“Given [Tatum’s] professed goal of expediting the trial in this case, [Dewan] renews her request that [Tatum] simply stipulate that the Magic Mike Intellectual Property being held in the two holding companies is equally divisible community property,” added the lawyer.
Dewan argues that she played a significant role in developing the concept and that the project was produced using shared community funds. She is now seeking 50% of the profits from the lucrative empire, reportedly worth $125 million. Additionally, Dewan alleges that Tatum and his associates have set up a complex web of LLCs to conceal earnings from the Magic Mike franchise, making it difficult for her to claim her rightful share.
