Jodie Turner-Smith Drops Bombshell Accusation Against Joshua Jackson Over Child Support Amid Divorce
Jodie Turner-Smith has accused her estranged husband, Joshua Jackson, of failing to provide child and spousal support following their high-profile split, which became public in October 2023.
According to court documents obtained on December 23 and reported by Us Weekly, Turner-Smith is seeking $8,543 per month in child support, retroactive to her initial divorce filing.
The Bad Monkey actress is also requesting $28,641 monthly in spousal support while their divorce proceedings are ongoing. This marks a departure from her earlier stance, in which she requested that spousal support be waived. Additionally, Turner-Smith is asking for $250,000 from Jackson to cover her attorney fees and other legal costs.
In her filings, Turner-Smith claimed that Jackson had previously assured her she “would not have to worry about financial security for our daughter if we ever separated,” referencing his understanding of the challenges faced by Black single mothers.
Turner-Smith also argued that Jackson earned significantly more during their four-year marriage and accused him of delaying the divorce process, which has led to increased legal expenses.
The actress accused the Dawson’s Creek star of “reneging” on his promise to financially support her and their 4-year-old daughter, whom the couple welcomed in April 2020.
The couple’s separation was made official on September 13, 2023, with Turner-Smith citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the divorce in her initial filing.
As the legal battle unfolds, the filings reveal the financial tensions underlying their split, with Turner-Smith emphasizing the need for stability for their daughter and herself during this period.
Neither Turner-Smith nor Jackson has publicly commented on the latest developments in their divorce proceedings. Their split comes after four years of marriage, which had been celebrated as a symbol of modern Hollywood relationships.
The legal battle highlights not only financial disagreements but also the emotional and logistical complexities of co-parenting after a high-profile breakup.
