John Schneider is bracing himself for a holiday season marked by deep sorrow in the aftermath of his wife’s passing. The renowned “Dukes of Hazzard” star has revealed his plans for this year’s Christmas, which will be spent alongside his in-laws and step-daughter Jessica, as they grapple with the loss of Alicia Allain Schneider, who succumbed to breast cancer at the age of 53 in February.

In an emotional interview with Fox News Digital, Schneider candidly admitted, “It’s going to be rough.” The actor took a moment to reflect on the complex nature of grief, describing it as an unpredictable and often paradoxical experience. He remarked, “Grief will sneak up on you and smack you in the back of the head. Truly, when you least expect it. But usually right as you’re having a great time.”

“It’s almost like grief says, ‘No, no, no, no, no. You’re not going to smile today,'” Schneider shared. “‘You’re not going to laugh today.'”

John and Alicia shared a loving partnership for four years before officially tying the knot in 2019. Although they didn’t have children together, the couple embraced their roles as co-parents to each other’s children from previous marriages.

The multi-talented singer-actor has a daughter named Leah from his former marriage to Elvira “Elly” Castle, in addition to three adopted children from Castle’s previous marriage. Meanwhile, Alicia was a devoted mother to her daughter Jessica, whom she shared with her ex-husband, Patrick Dollard.

Schneider emphasized that, despite their profound loss, the family remains determined to honor Alicia’s memory by coming together for Christmas. He explained, “We’re going to spend all that time together, which is probably what we would have done if Alicia were here. We’re going to celebrate her. We’re going to miss her. But it’s hard. It’s very hard.”

With a heavy heart, Schneider added, “We’re going to celebrate such a wonderful, wonderful life and such a force in all of our lives.” This poignant celebration serves as a testament to the enduring impact Alicia had on her loved ones, even in her absence.
