Kourtney Kardashian has faced criticism, including from her own mother, Kris Jenner, over her controversial parenting style. The Kardashians star recently opened up about her decision to co-sleep with her youngest son, Rocky, whom she shares with husband Travis Barker, igniting discussions across the internet.

The conversation around Kardashian’s parenting style took off after she mentioned in an audiobook, Safe Infant Sleep: Expert Answers to Your Cosleeping Questions, that she continues to share her bed with her son. In an Instagram Story, she proudly wrote, “Been co-sleeping safely since 2009. I still love reading/listening to more safe co-sleeping tips and hearing about the benefits.”

On the Skinny Confidential podcast, Kardashian detailed her approach to co-sleeping with her children, including her older kids. “I think every person’s different, and every child is different,” she said. “My oldest son slept with me till he was seven… at a certain time, I would put him to bed in his room and then he would come into my room.”

She also revealed that her daughter, Penelope, slept in her bed until she was 11as reported by the Mirror.  Kardashian, a mother of four, explained how her current lifestyle, including long hours from touring with Barker, has influenced her co-sleeping decisions with Rocky. “I think one thing too is that we sleep with our baby,” she shared.

“As a mother, I like to do what feels natural and instinctual to me.” She added that co-sleeping is something mammals have done for centuries and emphasized that both parents being aligned on this method is key. “My husband loves it too.”

While Kardashian stands by her parenting choices, her mother, Kris Jenner, has expressed concerns about the sleep routine. In response, Kardashian made it clear that her mother’s disapproval wouldn’t affect her. “She doesn’t have to worry about it because it’s not her baby, and she’s done having kids,” she remarked, as reported by Newsweek.

Kardashian’s embrace of co-sleeping began when she had her daughter Penelope. “When I was pregnant with P, I read The Attachment Parenting Book by Dr. Sears and really related to his point of view on the sleep method,” she explained.

Kardashian’s candidness about her parenting approach has sparked conversations about the different methods parents use to bond with their children. Her openness highlights the importance of every parent finding what works best for their family, even if it goes against traditional norms.
