It doesn’t take a super fan to know it takes a lot of working out, clean eating and dedication to be a Victoria Secret model – but what actually goes into making those incredible bodies in the weeks leading up to the Fashion Show?

1. Drink a lot of water
It’s no secret that drinking water is good for your body because it flushes out toxins and helps to keep skin clear, but being hydrated is also essential for beating bloat. VS model Shanina Shaik says the key to her pre-show regime is: “eat[ing] a lot of protein and vegetables, drink[ing] lots of water.”
2. Cardio, cardio, cardio
Gigi Hadid says in the build up to the Victoria’s Secret fashion show, she boxes in a bid to up her cardio and resistance, as well as toning up her muscles. Ahead of the catwalk, she told Reebok: “I love to box – it’s a perfect balance of cardio and resistance training. It’s important to enjoy your workouts and I genuinely look forward to boxing””

3. Avoid sugary snacks
This one sounds obvious, but it doesn’t involve avoiding snacking all together – but rather picking nuts, dried fruit and good fats rather than sugars. Speaking to Vogue Paris, Alessandra Ambrosio commented: “I always carry almonds, a piece of fruit or a chia seed energy bar with me at all times, in case I feel like a snack.”

4. Eat protein to fuel workouts
Inevitably, the Victoria Secret models increase the number of workouts they do in the weeks before the show – which is why they need extra protein to fuel them. Bella Hadid told GQ: “I’ve been eating hard protein every day, and working out for three hours every day. It’s crazy but I think that you know if you set your mind to something I think you can succeed.”
5. Work out with each other
If there’s one thing that’s gonna motivate Victoria Secret models, it’s each other – hence why Jasmine Tooks told Hollywood Take she works out with one of the other angels pre-show. “Romee [Strijd] and I are workout buddies. We try to go every day”, she explained. “I’ve even been training her a little bit. She asked me how I get my butt like that. So I brought her over to the gym and showed her how to do squats.”

6. Be consistent
As much as they work out extra hard in time for the show, Bridget Malcolm says it’s a lifestyle choice rather than a quick fix. Speaking about her regime, she said: “Year round I make sure I do a workout pretty consistently. I exercise five days a week, and then I eat super clean – veggies, fruits, nuts, seeds. I drink a lot of water.”

7. Stretching properly
Mixing up workouts and using different parts of the body is essential – which might be why Devon Windsor uses Pilates to stretch out her body. She explains: “For exercise, I am doing a lot of Pilates. I am very tight and not very flexible and so it is a nice balance between stretching and doing exercises.”
