Sean “Diddy” Combs and Jay-Z’s accuser, who alleged that the musicians raped her in 2000 when she was just 13, has spoken out for the first time since her claims made headlines.

According to NBC News, the Alabama woman—referred to in the legal filing as “Jane Doe”—acknowledged inconsistencies in her story but insisted they do not undermine the truth of her allegations.

“I made some mistakes,” she admitted, referring to discrepancies in her recollection of events. However, she maintained that the inconsistencies do not “impact the truth behind the allegations.”

Her lawyer reinforced her stance, stating that he would continue to vet her claims as the case develops. The statement comes after Jay-Z’s legal team publicly denounced the allegations, calling them “provably, demonstrably false.”

In her initial lawsuit, Jane Doe claimed she was driven from Rochester, New York, to New York City for the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards. She alleged that Combs’ limo driver offered her a ride to an after-party, where the assault involving Diddy and Jay-Z occurred.

However, the case took a turn when key details of her story were questioned. Representatives for musician Benji Madden, who the accuser claimed she spoke to at the party alongside his brother, confirmed to BBC News that the Madden brothers were on tour in the Midwest at the time of the VMAs.

Additionally, Jane Doe’s father, who she said picked her up after the alleged assault, reportedly does not recall the five-hour drive home—a critical detail in her account. Compounding the challenge, the friend who allegedly drove her to the awards has since passed away, making further verification impossible.

The legal action against Diddy and Jay-Z comes amid growing scrutiny surrounding Combs, who is facing separate allegations of sexual misconduct and trafficking.

While doubts persist over aspects of Jane Doe’s claims, her public statement underscores her continued resolve to seek accountability. The ongoing case raises questions not only about the allegations but also about the challenges victims face when coming forward with decades-old accusations.

As her legal team moves forward, Jane Doe’s admission of inconsistencies will likely fuel further debate while keeping the spotlight on the high-profile accusations against two of the music industry’s most powerful figures.
