Jay-Z has been granted permission to file for the dismissal of a rape accusation case, as per a recent ruling by Judge Analisa Torres. The allegations stem from claims by a woman identified as “Jane Doe,” who accused the rapper and Sean “Diddy” Combs of drugging and raping her at an MTV Video Music Awards after-party in 2000.
Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, has vehemently denied the accusations, describing them as “idiotic.” According to a report by Metro, the 55-year-old music mogul’s legal team recently submitted a motion requesting permission to seek dismissal of the case.
On Thursday, January 2, Judge Torres approved the request, allowing Carter to move forward with filing for dismissal. Court documents outlining the decision were shared publicly on X (formerly known as Twitter) by legal journalist Meghann Cuniff.
The court documents explicitly state, “Carter’s request to file a motion to dismiss Plaintiff’s amended complaint is granted.” This ruling marks a significant development in Carter’s legal battle over the allegations.
Despite this ruling in Jay-Z’s favor, the accuser’s attorney, Tony Buzbee, has voiced strong objections. Buzbee, who represents “Jane Doe,” is expected to challenge the motion to dismiss as the case continues to unfold.
