Kate Beckinsale recently addressed fan speculation about a “drunk co-star” who was “rough with her” on a film set, clarifying that it was not Ben Affleck. The actress spoke out about her experiences working in a “toxic” environment while reflecting on Blake Lively’s harassment lawsuit against Justin Baldoni on the It Ends With Us set.

On December 30, Beckinsale posted a candid video on Instagram, discussing troubling incidents she has faced in the entertainment industry. Following her post, some fans speculated she was referring to her Pearl Harbor co-star Ben Affleck.

The Underworld actress quickly shut down the rumors. Replying to a fan comment that asked, “Affleck maybe the drunk?” Beckinsale wrote, “Ben Affleck protected me on an extremely toxic film set and could not have behaved more respectably.”

She continued, “I am not going to go into any more specific detail on who it was or wasn’t because the most problematic part has not been the actors. It has been that reporting a problem or an abuse has resulted in a greater punishment than one could ever imagine.”

Beckinsale shed light on the challenges of addressing abuse in the industry. “Everybody says, ‘Why didn’t you tell someone?’ Well, on the whole, we have,” she explained. “We have told our agents or managers and the head of the studio, and this has usually also been witnessed by 30 to 100 people.”

She recounted a disturbing incident where a co-star was “so rough” with her that he destroyed part of her costume, ripped her wig in half, and left her bruised and shaken. The set was shut down for several hours as the cast and crew expressed concern.

Encouraged by her mother, Beckinsale reported the incident to the studio head but faced retaliation. “I was punished, ostracised, and could not have wished harder if I hadn’t said anything,” she revealed. “That’s just not right and the entire reason I made this video in the first place.”

Beckinsale’s revelations highlight the persistent challenges women face in the film industry when speaking out against abuse. Her statement emphasizes the need for systemic change to ensure that raising concerns leads to accountability rather than further victimization.
