Liam Hemsworth Spills on His ‘Instant’ Chemistry with Laura Dern in ‘Lonely Planet’
Liam Hemsworth recently shared his experience working with Laura Dern in the upcoming Netflix film Lonely Planet. Despite not knowing each other before the project, Hemsworth revealed that they developed an “instant connection.”
In an interview with PEOPLE magazine, Hemsworth said, “We didn’t know each other beforehand, but once we met, it felt like we’d known each other for a long time. There was this instant trust and connection.” He went on to describe how their bond grew throughout the filming process. “As we worked together, that just grew and evolved, and we had such a great time doing this project together.”
The actor also praised Dern, describing her as “an amazing, brilliant actress.” He admitted that when meeting someone he respects and admires, there’s always a fear of coming across the wrong way. “When you meet someone you are a fan of and respect so much… you don’t want to come across as an idiot or seem silly.
But when we met, all of a sudden it was like, ‘Oh, I’m speaking to someone that understands me and hears me,'” Hemsworth explained, humorously adding, “Who’s also an idiot and silly.” Hemsworth highlighted their natural rapport, saying, “And she’s as much of an idiot as I am. We got along and we never had to do any sort of work to find that relationship.
We had this connection, and it was sort of… what do you call it? Life imitating art or the other, art imitating life?” Lonely Planet, scheduled to premiere on Netflix on October 11, tells the story of a reclusive novelist, played by Dern, who travels to Morocco to overcome her writer’s block.
There, she meets Owen, played by Hemsworth, and the two embark on a transformative love affair. Hemsworth’s enthusiasm for the project and his collaboration with Dern highlight the genuine connection they found both on and off-screen, bringing depth to their performances in this romantic drama.
