Michelle Obama’s unique experience of raising her two daughters, Malia and Sasha, during their eight years in the White House has given her valuable insights into parenting.

Despite their extraordinary circumstances, the Obama family remains down-to-earth and relatable. Michelle recently shared a touching parenting moment from their past and reflected on how her role has evolved over the years.

In a candid conversation with Hoda Kotb on her podcast, “The Light Podcast,” Michelle recalled a time when she questioned her eldest daughter Malia’s appearance.

Malia had walked into their hotel room with a creased outfit, prompting Michelle to offer some advice: “You’re wrinkly — you’re gonna do something about this,” she said. Malia responded with a simple “Yeah, Mom.”

According to a report by Hello on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, Now, Michelle has transitioned from being the “mom-in-chief” to the “advisor-in-chief” as Malia, 24, and Sasha, 21, have grown into independent adults. Malia has chosen to live out of the spotlight and is pursuing a career behind the scenes in the entertainment industry.

She has worked as a production assistant on Halle Berry’s CBS sci-fi drama series, “Extant,” and as a writer on Donald Glover’s Amazon series, “Swarm.” Despite the physical distance between them – with Michelle and Barack residing in Washington D.C. – both Malia and Sasha maintain regular contact with their famous parents.

Michelle offered a glimpse into their family dynamics by discussing their WhatsApp group, where Barack takes on the role of the “typical Dad,” sharing articles and even sending emails about earthquake preparedness since Malia resides in earthquake-prone California.

The Obama daughters’ down-to-earth nature can also be attributed to the influence of their grandmother, Marian Robinson, Michelle’s mother. She played a crucial role in keeping Malia and Sasha grounded during their unique childhood in the White House.

Barack Obama fondly remembers Marian’s presence, describing her as a blessing and noting that if the girls ever acted entitled or bratty, she would remind them that they were “just here for the ride.” Marian’s wisdom and guidance have undoubtedly contributed to the humility and resilience of Malia and Sasha as they navigate their own paths in the world.
