With 2012 coming quickly to a close, many of us like to look back and think nostalgically on everything we’ve done. Maybe your kid finally moved out of the house or maybe you were reward for a year’s work with that promotion you’ve had your eyes on for months. Whatever it is that you’re looking back on with fondness, snap out of it! A new year is nearly upon us and dwelling on the past isn’t going to get you that new luxury sports car you’ve been eyeballing since its unveiling.
From the 2014 Aston Martin Vanquish to the 2014MY SLS AMG Black Series Mercedes, we’re sure that after a year of visiting this site, you probably have quite the wish list of new cars you want parked in your garage the most. While plenty of automobile types have been announced, like new advancements in electric hybrids, the type we really love most are the ones built for speed. After all, who doesn’t want to feel like they’re a secret agent while racing down dark country roads? So, without further ado, here are our top five picks for 2013!
Aston Martin 2014 AM 310 Vanquish:
The new AM 310 Vanquish’s V12 petrol engine, with a peak of 565 bph (573 PS), is combined with the proven Touchtronic two six-speed automatic gearbox, giving the car more enhanced performance capabilities. Aston Martin believes that the “raw statistics speak for themselves: 573 PS at 6,750 rpm, 457 lb ft of torque at 5,500 rpm, 0-60 mph in 4.1 seconds and a top speed of 183 mph.” Aston Martin designed Vanquish to feature body panels constructed from carbon fiber due to its strength-to-weight ratio and flexibility, while also improving “torsional rigidity by more than 25%.”
Mercedes 2014MY SLS AMG Black Series:
Mercedes-AMG presents its fifth model of the Black Series with the extreme version of the SLS, the 2014MY SLS AMG Black Series. The inspiration behind the luxury car stems from the SLS AMG GT3 racecar. The AMG 6.3-liter V8 engine metes out 622 hp at 7,400 rpm, and accelerates to 60 mph in a pulsating 3.5 seconds. The luxury automaker announced that the 2014MY SLS AMG Black Series will be in the U.S. by summer 2013.
Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 Roadster:
The Aventador Roadster includes the same 6.5-liter V12 as its existing fixed-roof counterpart, driving 700 metric horsepower to all four-wheels through the company’s ISR seven-speed sequential transmission to all four wheels. The result is a 0-60 time of three seconds flat and a top speed of 217 miles per hour. With the added weight a convertible brings, that may not be quite as quick as the Aventador coupe, but will still trounce 99% of the cars on the road, and let the wind waft through your hair while doing it.
Jaguar F-TYPE Convertible Sports Coupé:
Luxury auto brand Jaguar recently unveiled their newest two-seat convertible sports car, the 2013 F-TYPE, at the Paris Motor Show. As the company’s first two-seater since the iconic E-TYPE was launched more than 50 years ago, this stunning car displays a far more aggressive design than previous models but is still very recognizable as a Jaguar. Set for a Summer 2013 release, the F-TYPE features a front-engine, rear-wheel drive, and a lightweight aluminum body that allows it to reach high-performance speeds.
Lyonheart K:
Evoking the lines of the E-Type Jag, the Lyonheart K is an exclusive retro sportscar of which only 250 examples will be built in either coupe or convertible form. Power comes from a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 built by British racing engine manufacturer Cosworth to provide 567 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque for a 0-60 time projected at less than four seconds and a 186mph top speed.
Okay, so this one isn’t released until early 2014 but you can place your order now…and we suggest that you do.
