Hyundai Announces Agreement to Develop Hydrogen Infrastructure with Shell
To celebrate National Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Day 2021, Hyundai Motor North America (HMNA) has joined Equilon Enterprises LLC (d / b / a Shell Oil Products US), also known as Shell Hydrogen, to help fuel the growth of hydrogen fueling infrastructure in California.
The agreement, known as Project Neptune, supports the construction of 48 additional and two modernized hydrogen filling stations by Shell Hydrogen from 2021 in the environmentally friendly Golden State.
Hyundai Motor America focuses on “Advance for Humanity” and intelligent mobility solutions. Hyundai offers US consumers a high-tech range of automobiles, SUVs, and electric vehicles. Olabisi Boyle, Vice President of Product Planning and Mobility Strategy at Hyundai Motor North America said:

The growth of the infrastructure for hydrogen refueling is crucial for the rapid acceptance of emission-free fuel cell vehicles by consumers. By joining Project Neptune, Hyundai is strengthening its commitment to fuel cell technologies and the positive effects they have on the environment, a pillar of its long-term strategic vision.
The new hydrogen stations will be partially funded with public funds from the California Energy Commission (CEC). Two other fuel cell vehicle manufacturers also joined the consortium with fuel cell vehicle sales to support infrastructure growth.
This agreement with Shell Hydrogen enhances Hyundai’s global relationship with the energy company. In March 2021, Hyundai Motor Company signed a new five-year global business cooperation agreement with Royal Dutch Shell plc to expand their collaboration on clean energy solutions.
