23-Year-Old Florida Woman Allegedly Stabs Boyfriend’s Pit Bull Repeatedly Because Dog Was ‘Bothering’ Her
A 23-year-old Florida woman, Megan Lynn Mileskiewicz, was arrested after allegedly stabbing her boyfriend’s dog multiple times, claiming the animal was “bothering her.” Deputies from the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office responded to the incident on the morning of December 31, after a witness reported the troubling behavior.
According to the sheriff’s office, the call came in at approximately 10:42 a.m. A witness claimed to have seen Mileskiewicz attacking the dog with a sharp object. When deputies arrived on the scene, the witness informed them that Mileskiewicz had fled out the back door of the residence.
“Deputies quickly located Mileskiewicz hiding behind a tool shed in the backyard, face down on the ground surrounded by shrubbery,” the sheriff’s office detailed in a press release.
Despite repeated commands to come out, Mileskiewicz initially refused to cooperate. She was eventually apprehended and taken into custody. The victim of the attack, a two-year-old pit bull, sustained two deep cuts, each approximately 2-3 inches long, on its back.
While the injuries were deemed non-life-threatening, deputies described the wounds as “actively bleeding.” After being read her Miranda rights, Mileskiewicz reportedly admitted her actions to law enforcement. She stated that the dog was “bothering” her, which caused her to become upset, told WTSP.
She referred to her actions as a “mistake.” The pit bull has since received medical attention, and its condition is expected to improve. Mileskiewicz was transported to the Hernando County Detention Center, where she faces charges of animal cruelty. Her bond was set at $3,500.
The sheriff’s office has not disclosed additional details about the incident, including whether the dog remains in the care of its owner or has been placed under protective custody.
Cases of animal cruelty often draw significant public attention, and incidents like these serve as reminders of the importance of reporting suspicious or harmful behavior. The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office encourages residents to promptly alert authorities to any signs of animal abuse or neglect.
Mileskiewicz’s actions have sparked outrage on social media, with many calling for stricter penalties for animal cruelty offenses. The case remains under investigation.
