“It’s Been Two Years Since Our Freedom Over Our Bodies Was Seized” AOC’s Fiery Speech on Roe v. Wade Anniversary

In a fervent speech that resonated widely across social media platforms, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) made a powerful appeal to American voters to reelect President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, while sharply criticizing former President Donald Trump and the Supreme Court’s decision on Roe v. Wade.
Speaking on the two-year anniversary of the controversial Dobbs decision, AOC described it as a catastrophic event led by “the most corrupt Supreme Court in American history” that revoked women’s right to choose, putting countless lives at risk.
“This week marks the two-year anniversary of the catastrophic Dobbs decision. Two years, since six conservative justices toppled Roe V Wade, since our right to choose was taken from us. And pregnant women and people across the country have had their lives at risk. It’s been two years since our freedom over our bodies was seized by the most corrupt Supreme Court in American history,” AOC passionately declared.
Her speech struck a chord with many online commentators. One Twitter user remarked, “I’m telling people, don’t sleep on AOC. She’s miles ahead of the other Squad members in political acumen. She’s going to have the career Sinema should have had.” Another supporter emphasized the need for a diverse coalition to defeat Trump, stating, “It will take a coalition of Republicans, Democrats, Progressives, and Independents to beat Donald Trump and resoundingly reject MAGA politics once and for all in our presidential races.”
AOC also criticized the justices appointed by Trump, linking the erosion of reproductive rights directly to his presidency: “And that court itself was appointed by the most corrupt president in American history, Donald Trump. And, it is precisely because of Trump and his corrupt court that women and girls and pregnant people have fewer rights today in 2024 than our parents and grandparents did. And we will not stand for that.”
Highlighting the stakes of the upcoming election, AOC warned, “And Nevada I will tell you, and I know you already know, that if he wins in November, you better believe Donald Trump and a Republican Congress will pass a national abortion ban. Now, that alone is an enormous reason why it is crucial that we reelect Joe Biden and Kamala Harris as President and Vice president of the United States.”
As per The Hill, Previously, Trump boasted about his role in overturning Roe v. Wade, framing it as a return of powers to the states which he described as working “brilliantly” in varying ways. His remarks have fueled Democratic arguments that his administration’s policies have severely restricted access to abortion, making the upcoming election pivotal for reproductive rights in America.
