After a tragic shooting at a Dollar General store in Jacksonville, Florida, where a white gunman specifically targeted and killed three Black individuals before taking his own life, President Joe Biden has issued a firm statement condemning white supremacy.
The shooter’s left-behind manifestos indicated a racial motivation behind his actions. The president emphasized the poignant timing, noting that the incident occurred on the 60th anniversary of the March on Washington, a significant civil rights event.
Biden expressed profound sorrow, stating that such a day of reflection was marred by another episode of gun violence, seemingly motivated by hate.
Highlighting the ongoing investigation into the event as a probable hate crime and a display of domestic extremism, President Biden was resolute in his condemnation of white supremacy.
“White supremacy cannot and should not have a place in America,” President Biden declared, emphasizing the urgent need to protect Black families and students from racially motivated violence.
