Former Trump Aide Questions Voters’ Doubts About Ex-Staff Members

Gen. John Kelly, former chief of staff to Donald Trump, has publicly detailed why he believes the former president is unfit to return to office, joining a growing list of former officials and staffers warning voters about the dangers of a second Trump presidency.
In an audio interview with The New York Times, Kelly outlined numerous instances where Trump behaved in ways that he believes are unacceptable, particularly in relation to the military. Kelly’s remarks echo those of other former Trump administration insiders who have repeatedly tried to sound the alarm about the risks posed by the former president’s leadership.
One of those voices is Alyssa Farah Griffin, who served as White House communications director under Trump. Speaking on The View, Griffin expressed her frustration with the public’s reluctance to accept the warnings coming from so many former high-ranking officials.
“I want to shake people and say, ‘Why are you not believing this? How many more four-star generals need to tell you the truth about who this man is?’ He is so dangerous,” Griffin said during the show’s opening segment.
Griffin noted that for the four years Trump was in office, various individuals—herself included—have been raising red flags about his behavior and the threat he poses to democratic norms and institutions.
“Gen. John Kelly is somebody who was so highly regarded by everyone in Trump’s West Wing,” Griffin explained. “He was seen, even by the most loyal Trump advisers, as a steadying force. And the fact that today, Trump’s defenders are choosing to impugn a four-star general to defend a politician shows there’s an unwillingness to ever stand up for what’s right.”
This isn’t the first time senior military leaders and officials have issued stark warnings about Trump. Griffin pointed out that many high-ranking military officers who worked directly with Trump, along with former senior administration officials like herself, have repeatedly voiced concerns about his character and his disregard for constitutional principles.
“Where so many senior military officials who directly served under Donald Trump and senior officials like myself are warning about his character, his infidelity to the constitution, how he views our military,” Griffin stressed, adding that such concerns cannot be dismissed lightly.
Despite the repeated warnings, Griffin expressed hope that one day, people will take these warnings seriously. She remains optimistic that the truth will eventually resonate with the public, even as the chorus of voices continues to grow.
“I’m never going to lose hope. I’m not going to. But how many more people do we need to hear from? A gold star father lost his son in combat after himself serving in combat?” Griffin asked, underscoring the gravity of the situation.
As the 2024 election looms, figures like Kelly and Griffin, along with other former Trump staffers, continue to warn voters about the potential risks of a Trump presidency. Their message is clear: the stakes are high, and ignoring these warnings could have dire consequences for the future of the country.
