“Trump’s Brain Is Gone”: Ex-Adviser Criticizes Former President’s UFC Comments
Donald Trump’s former campaign adviser, A.J. Delgado, believes the ex-president is showing signs of mental decline, and she attributes it to his comments about an Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) fighter, Khabib Abdulmanapovich Nurmagomedov.
Delgado took to X on Tuesday morning to explain to non-UFC fans why Trump’s professed preference for Nurmagomedov, made during an interview with influencer Adin Ross on Monday, was potentially disastrous.
According to Delgado, Trump’s response to a single question revealed two problematic truths. “Trump actually knows almost nothing about UFC/MMA but likes attending bc the crowd claps,” Delgado wrote. “He’s old and his brain is GONE.”
Delgado, who has been embroiled in a legal battle with Trump’s campaign after alleging discrimination, argues that Trump’s answer to the question, “Who are your favorite fighters?” exposed his lack of knowledge about the sport. Trump mentioned Nurmagomedov by his first name, ignoring fighters such as Jorge Masvidal or Colby Covington, both of whom have expressed support for his campaign, told MSNBC.
“So he goes with ‘Khabib,'” Delgado wrote. “Notice he’s unable to list FIGHTERS (plural), which was the question. (No real UFC fan lists only ONE fighter when asked. But Trump is NOT a real fan – it’s a ruse for base appeal).”
Instead of discussing Nurmagomedov’s prowess in the ring, Trump pivoted back to politics, claiming the fighter had urged him to stop the war in Ukraine. Delgado pointed to a video of Nurmagomedov at a UFC event in New Jersey in June, where he actually urged Trump to oppose the war in Palestine, not Ukraine.
“Trump’s brain REALLY is in severe decline,” Delgado wrote. “I actually don’t think he’s lying here – I think this shows us his mind is gone.” Delgado’s comments underscore a growing concern among some former Trump allies about his cognitive abilities. Her critique highlights the gap between Trump’s public persona as a UFC enthusiast and what she perceives as his superficial understanding of the sport.
As the political landscape continues to evolve, such critiques from former insiders like Delgado add another layer of complexity to the ongoing discourse about Trump’s capabilities and the authenticity of his public statements.
