Donald Trump Credits Family for Campaign Support, Highlights Son Barron’s Role in Reaching Gen Z
Despite media portrayals of his relationship with his wife and children, Donald Trump has credited his family as a crucial part of his 2024 reelection campaign. In an exclusive interview with Daily Mail, the 78-year-old Republican candidate emphasized the vital role of his rarely-seen wife, Melania Trump, and how his teenage son, Barron, is helping attract Gen Z voters.
During the interview, Trump discussed the significant impact his family has had on his campaign trail, while also expressing frustration over what he views as unfair treatment of them. When asked if the public would see more of Melania on the campaign trail, Trump’s eyes lit up as he responded, “I’d love to.”
However, he noted the challenges they face, stating, “It’s a nasty world for me. It’s not nasty for Democrats like it is for me. And I would like to have my family not go out there and face some of the things that happen.” He also praised Melania’s dedication, saying, “She’ll do whatever is necessary, but she hasn’t been treated properly.”
Trump also highlighted his 18-year-old son Barron’s behind-the-scenes contributions. Although Barron isn’t on the campaign trail, he’s playing a pivotal role in helping his father connect with Gen Z voters. Barron, along with his friend Bo Loudon, a right-wing influencer from Palm Beach, Florida, has been developing strategies to leverage social media and influencer culture to appeal to younger voters.
Trump, unfamiliar with the influencer world, has relied on Barron’s expertise to bridge the generational gap. Barron was instrumental in setting up Trump’s interview with controversial streamer Adin Ross, which garnered significant attention. “He knows so much about it,” Trump said of Barron.
“Adin Ross, you know, I wasn’t so familiar with him—different generation. But Barron knows them all, and we’ve had tremendous success.” The livestream, filmed at Mar-a-Lago, peaked with over 580,000 viewers, becoming one of the top-streamed events on the Kick platform in 2024. In addition to Barron’s efforts, Trump’s other children—Don Jr., Ivanka, Tiffany, and Eric—have contributed to the campaign in their own ways. Reflecting on their involvement,
Trump expressed frustration over how they’ve been treated in the public eye, saying, “My kids gave up so much, and all they did is get accused of Russia, Russia, Russia, and all these hoaxes, you know, misinformation, disinformation.” As Trump continues his campaign, his family remains a key support system, both in public appearances and behind the scenes.
