Eric Trump, son of former President Donald Trump, revealed what Vice President Kamala Harris said that “drove him crazy” during his recent appearance on The Megyn Kelly Show. While discussing the second assassination attempt on his father, Eric pointed fingers at Harris and the Democratic Party, accusing them of targeting his family.

One remark in particular from Harris during the vice-presidential debate triggered Eric’s frustration. “It’s one of the things that drives me crazy when you see Kamala on the debate stage saying: ‘This man is a threat to democracy,’” he said, according to Newsweek. “There’s only one person that they’re going after, and they’re going after him viciously.”

Second Assassination Plot

The former president was the target of a second assassination attempt on September 15 while playing golf at his West Palm Beach course in Florida. The would-be assassin, Ryan Routh, fled the scene before opening fire, but law enforcement swiftly apprehended him.

Eric expressed deep frustration with how his family has been treated over the past decade, pointing directly at the Democratic Party. He accused them of laughing at the Trump family, trying to impeach his father, and now, attempting to “kill” him. “Now twice in five weeks, as we approach 50 days away from Election Day, they tried to kill him. They will stop at nothing,” Eric claimed.

Blaming the Democrats and the Judicial System

Eric also suggested that the civil and criminal cases currently facing his father are politically motivated, arguing they stem from the “weaponization of the judicial system.” He expressed outrage over what he sees as a relentless effort to bring down his father, who is running for the presidency again in 2024.

The former president narrowly escaped a previous assassination attempt in July during a Pennsylvania rally. The shooter, Thomas Matthew Crooks, fired at Trump, causing a minor ear injury. Eric referenced both incidents to highlight what he perceives as the increasing dangers his father faces as Election Day approaches.

Capturing the Arrest

Eric Trump also revealed that he personally captured video footage of Routh’s arrest after receiving a call from a friend at the local sheriff’s department regarding gunshots near the golf course. Eric described the scene as he headed toward the area, capturing the police chase. “I actually took a personal video of the guy being arrested. I was driving south, and the police chase was heading north,” he said during the interview.

Reflecting on the gravity of the situation, Eric expressed his disbelief at what could have happened if either assassination attempt had been successful. “I couldn’t even fathom what that would mean for our country,” he remarked.

Online Backlash

Eric Trump’s comments, particularly his frustration with Kamala Harris’s remark labeling his father a “threat to democracy,” sparked widespread ridicule on social media. Many online users suggested that Eric’s behavior mirrored that of his father, with some mocking his outrage over Harris’s words.

Critics questioned why a statement about democracy would provoke such an emotional response, drawing comparisons between Eric and his father’s often combative public demeanor. Despite the backlash, Eric remains firm in his belief that the attacks on his father—both literal and figurative—are part of a broader campaign to take down the former president as he seeks a return to the White House in 2024.
