Marjorie Taylor Greene Claims Deep State Behind Trump Assassination Attempt
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) has put forth a conspiracy theory suggesting that the would-be assassin Thomas Crooks was manipulated by “the deep state, the media, and the Democrats.” Speaking at the Republican National Convention, Greene shared her thoughts on The Benny Show about the recent shooting of former President Donald Trump.
“You know, I’ll go ahead and jump out there and I could care less what anybody thinks,” she declared. “I do not believe that this 20-year-old was able to do this by himself. I do not buy the narrative that they’re putting out there.”
Greene dismissed reports that Iran had plotted to kill Trump, suggesting it was a diversion. “I think they’re just laying out the next country they really want to drop bombs on because they love war,” she speculated. She argued that a war with Iran “would be a complete distraction from the real case.”
“The deep state, the media, and the Democrats have really called for President Trump to be assassinated for years. None of us are shocked that this actually happened,” Greene asserted. “We are just mortified that they did actually try to do it.” “I’m just using my common sense,” she added. “They’re going to label me a conspiracy theorist. Who cares?”
Greene’s comments have drawn attention and criticism, highlighting her willingness to embrace and promote conspiracy theories. As the investigation into the assassination attempt continues, her remarks add another layer of controversy to an already charged political environment.
