“They’ve gone through hell” Melania Trump Stays Out of Spotlight Amid Husband Donald Trump’s Legal Troubles
Melania Trump reportedly maintained a calm exterior while harboring deep resentment towards her husband, Donald Trump, following his indictment on felony charges, including the hush money case involving adult film star Stormy Daniels. Sources reveal that the former First Lady was far from supportive of her husband’s actions and chose to focus on herself and her teenage son, Barron Trump, rather than stand by Donald Trump during his arraignment.
According to a report by People, Melania Trump was particularly disturbed by her husband’s alleged affair with Daniels. She opted to lead a separate life at Mar-a-Lago, the former First Couple’s Palm Beach home, distancing herself from the ongoing legal drama.
Despite the significant charges looming over Donald Trump, the 53-year-old Slovenian continued her daily routines and prioritized her own well-being and that of her son. A social source shared, “Melania is leading her own life and still feels happy being at Mar-a-Lago, surrounded by people who love her and who never talk about reality or bad things about her husband.” However, this detachment shouldn’t be mistaken for support.
“She remains angry and doesn’t want to hear [the alleged hush money payment] mentioned,” the source added. “She is aware of who her husband is and keeps her life upbeat with her own family and a few close friends.” During Trump’s first court appearance and subsequent speech at Mar-a-Lago, Melania was notably absent. In his speech, Trump praised his children, including Barron, but failed to mention his wife.
“I have a son here who’s done a great job, and I have another son here who’s done a great job…and Tiffany and Ivanka,” he said. “And Barron will be great someday. He’s tall. He is tall, and he’s smart.” Despite expressing appreciation for his family, Melania was conspicuously excluded from his remarks. “But I have a great family, and they’ve done a fantastic job, and we appreciate it very much,” Trump stated, adding, “They’ve gone through hell”, reports Reuters.
Melania’s silence amidst the accusations and media scrutiny raised many questions. Reports from as early as 2018 indicated that she was deeply upset by Daniels’ allegations about her husband. Trump allegedly arranged a $130,000 payment to Daniels through his attorney, Michael Cohen, to keep the affair quiet. Although Cohen initially denied the allegations, he later confessed in court.
Daniels, who has a prominent name in the adult film industry, filed three defamation lawsuits against Trump and publicly recounted their 2006 sexual encounter, which took place a year after Trump married Melania. In the wake of the indictment, Daniels gave several interviews detailing her experiences with Trump.
While Melania Trump has chosen a life of relative privacy following her husband’s legal troubles, the source revealed, “They [Melania and Trump] still see friends for dinner at the club, but live separately and do what they want on their own. They don’t spend that much time together.” The insider added, “[Melania] wants to ignore it and hopes it will pass, but she doesn’t sympathize with Donald’s plight. Despite what happens to Donald, she will be fine. She is well taken care of.”
