Despite the gravity of the trial, in which her husband faces 34 charges of falsifying business records related to a payment to adult film star Stormy Daniels, Melania Trump has chosen not to appear in court. She regards the issue as her husband’s sole burden, reinforcing her stance in private discussions.
The trial, which is a significant historical event as Donald Trump is the first American president to stand trial on criminal charges, started with the selection of seven jurors, with jury selection set to continue later in the week. The charges against Mr. Trump initially classified as misdemeanors, have escalated to felonies.
