Following advice regarding potential legal consequences, Trump decided to cancel his planned press conference on the 2020 election. It is understood that his legal team had expressed concerns that the event might further complicate his legal position.

While Trump stated the press conference was no longer necessary, it’s believed that his legal advisors strongly advised against it. Given the sensitive nature of the topics he intended to address, there were concerns about potential repercussions.

Trump posted on Truth Social:

Rather than releasing the Report on the Rigged & Stolen Georgia 2020 Presidential Election on Monday, my lawyers would prefer putting this, I believe, Irrefutable & Overwhelming evidence of Election Fraud & Irregularities in formal Legal Filings as we fight to dismiss this disgraceful Indictment by a publicity & campaign finance seeking D.A., who sadly presides over a record-breaking Murder & Violent Crime area, Atlanta. Therefore, the News Conference is no longer necessary!

It should be noted that, as of now, there has been no concrete evidence provided by Trump to support claims of election fraud in Georgia or any other state. Statements made at such events could potentially impact ongoing legal cases, including the federal investigation into the events of January 6.

Ultimately, the decision to cancel seems to have been driven by a desire to avoid further legal entanglement, rather than a lack of desire to speak publicly.
