Donald Trump Jr. recently shared his mixed feelings about the annual New Year’s Eve celebrations at Mar-a-Lago, revealing that the event often turns into an uncomfortable experience due to his father’s intoxicated friends. During Monday’s episode of his Triggered podcast, Trump Jr. candidly discussed why ringing in the New Year at the luxurious estate isn’t always his idea of a good time.

“My birthday is New Year’s Eve… I get older,” he remarked, highlighting how his feelings about the holiday have shifted over the years. “I was a kid, New Year’s Eve was a lot better because it was like, there’s always something to do. There’s always a party.”

Now, however, he finds the occasion less appealing. “Now it’s sort of like amateur night,” he explained. “I get to be around a thousand drunk people giving me their political opinions that I don’t necessarily want to hear.”

Despite his affection for Mar-a-Lago, Trump Jr. admitted that the party environment can be overwhelming as the night progresses. “While I love Mar-a-Lago, it’s sort of like, you know, by about midnight when everyone’s like, you know, 12 beers deep or whatever it is they’re drinking, you know, the close talking opinions.”

The eldest son of former President Donald Trump described how the event often turns into a platform for guests to voice unsolicited advice about his father’s controversial social media activity. “This’ll be like a year, like nine of, ‘Hey, you know, have you ever thought to maybe have your dad not tweet that?'” he quipped. “I’m like, no, I’ve never thought that ‘cause I’m a freaking imbecile.”

Reflecting on how he’d rather spend his time, Trump Jr. mentioned his love for the outdoors. “I’d rather be hunting or fishing,” he said, hinting at his preference for quieter, more personal activities over the lavish party scene.

Trump Jr.’s comments shed light on the less glamorous side of life in the public eye, especially during family gatherings that are as high-profile as the Mar-a-Lago New Year’s Eve bash. His frank admission about feeling like a “freaking imbecile” in these moments underscores the challenges of navigating fame, family, and personal boundaries in such an environment.
