Donald Trump found himself trolled by a Democratic congressman eager to highlight the former president’s past financial support for his potential opponent in the race for the White House.

Rep. Jared Moskowitz (D-FL) posted an image on X (formerly Twitter) of a $5,000 donation Trump made in 2011 to Kamala Harris’s campaign for re-election as attorney general of California.

“Was a wise investment,” Moskowitz wrote alongside the image. The image was also shared by Michael Steele, former head of the Republican National Committee and now an outspoken Trump critic. “So when Trump wrote that check to re-elect Kamala Harris in 2011, I bet he didn’t think she’d cash it in 2024!” Steele commented.

Kamala Harris recently received an endorsement from President Joe Biden, who announced he was ending his campaign for re-election, further spotlighting the irony of Trump’s past donations, reported Deadline.

In 2020, Business Insider reported that Trump donated twice to Harris’s election campaigns before she became the Democratic Party’s vice-presidential nominee in 2020. The report indicated a total of $6,000 in donations, including a $1,000 check-in in 2013, in addition to the $5,000 highlighted by Moskowitz. Trump made these donations while still a private citizen.

Harris reportedly redirected the money in 2015, with her spokesperson telling the Sacramento Bee that the funds were donated to a nonprofit group aiding Central Americans.

At the time, a Trump advisor told PBS Newshour that Trump “donated to candidates across all aisles,” emphasizing his broad approach to political contributions.

This trolling underscores the unpredictable and often ironic nature of political alliances and donations. As Harris gears up for her presidential campaign with Biden’s endorsement, the revelation of Trump’s past support adds a unique twist to the unfolding political narrative.
