In a recent interview with podcast host Ben Shapiro, former President Donald Trump delivered a stern warning to The New York Times. The conversation quickly grabbed attention as Trump hinted at potential retaliation against the media outlet. The discussion began after Shapiro accused the mainstream media of suppressing information related to an alleged assault involving Kamala Harris’ husband, Doug Emhoff, and manipulating the narrative ahead of the presidential election.

Shapiro asked, “How do you fight a legacy media that is once again rigging the informational environment of the election?” Trump responded bluntly, saying, “The New York Times is one of the most dishonest of all. I watched this New York Times, and it’s a classic. Wait until you see what I’m going to do with them, you’re going to have so much fun.” He continued, “In three, four, five days, this is the most dishonest newspaper.

As reported by HuffPost, They are disgusting.” Notably, the newspaper has endorsed Kamala Harris for president while criticizing Trump’s past performance. While Trump did not disclose specific plans during the interview, he has a long history of threatening media outlets that publish critical coverage or allegations of bias against him. Back in 2017, Trump famously labeled the media as “the enemy of the American people.” He has repeatedly expressed disdain for journalists, particularly when targeting networks like NBC.

At one point, he tweeted, “With all of the Fake News coming out of NBC and the Networks, at what point is it appropriate to challenge their License? Bad for country!” CNN reported that Trump also said, “Network news has become so partisan, distorted, and fake that licenses must be challenged and, if appropriate, revoked. Not fair to the public!”

Throughout the interview and on social media, Trump shared his continued frustration with what he calls the “Fake News Media.” On X (formerly Twitter), he accused media houses like The New York Times, The Washington Post, and several networks of distorting information.

“People are disgusted and embarrassed by the Fake News Media, as headed by the @nytimes, @washingtonpost, @comcast & MSDNC, @ABC, @CBSNews, and more. They no longer believe what they see and read and for good reason. Fake News is, indeed, THE ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE!” he posted.

Trump also blamed the media for a decline in advertising revenue, tweeting, “Advertising in the Failing New York Times is WAY down. The Washington Post is not much better. I can’t say whether this is because they are Fake News sources of information or the Virus is just plain beating them up. Fake News is bad for America!”

In another tweet, he criticized them as the “LameStream Media,” claiming they were trying to harm his election chances by pushing for extended lockdowns. The tone of Trump’s comments aligns with recent warnings from his allies. Last year, a Trump supporter suggested that if Trump returns to the White House, his administration might pursue legal action against media figures accused of supporting what they call a rigged election.

“We will go out and find the conspirators, not just in the government, but in the media… we’re going to come after you,” the ally declared. In his discussion with Shapiro, Trump also proposed using the 25th Amendment to remove both President Biden and Vice President Harris from office. “I think they should do a double 25th amendment. Just get them both out. Who’s third in line? Because it’s just terrible,” Trump stated.

As reported by Newsweek, Trump previously suggested in September that the 25th Amendment should be modified to allow for the removal of a vice president who is dishonest or covers up the president’s inability to perform their duties. Trump’s remarks reveal his ongoing frustration with the media and political leadership, signaling his intent to continue pushing back against those he believes are unfairly targeting him.
