Trump’s Slurred Speech During Delayed Musk Interview Sparks Concern
Donald Trump’s much-anticipated interview with Elon Musk got off to a rocky start on Monday night, with technical issues delaying the event by 30 minutes. Once the interview finally began, it wasn’t just the late start that caught listeners’ attention—many noticed that Trump’s speech seemed unusually slurred.
“Why is Trump slurring his S sounds?” asked author Kurt Andersen, humorously imitating the former president’s speech with the phrase, “Shuch a shad s—- nation.”
Musk had attributed the initial delay to a “DDOS” attack on his platform, which had prevented the livestream from launching as scheduled. However, as the conversation progressed, social media users quickly shifted their focus to Trump’s unusual speech patterns.
“Not a joke here: Trump is really badly slurring his words. This is quite disturbing,” noted columnist Rex Huppke, expressing concern over the apparent change in Trump’s usual speaking style. Podcaster Susan Simpson also remarked on the situation, saying, “Trump is slurring in a way I’ve never heard from him before,” and adding that Musk sounded as though “this is maybe the third or fourth time he’s had a conversation with a fellow human.”
The observations didn’t stop there. Twitter user @the_real_matt_m compared Trump’s speech to the cartoon character Sylvester the Cat, noting, “This is incredible, Trump is slurring like crazy, it sounds like his teeth are falling out. Elon is just saying ‘Yeah, yeah’ while Trump steamrolls him.”
Some speculated on possible reasons for the slurred speech. “Was there a DDoS attack on Trump’s voice that made him suddenly start to slur/lisp? Maybe his dentures are loose? Bizarre,” tweeted @SeanColarossi. Tim Hogan, former communications director for Amy Klobuchar, jokingly compared Trump’s speech to someone adjusting to new dental work: “This is how you sound on day one of Invisalign.”
The combination of technical glitches and Trump’s noticeable speech changes left many viewers puzzled and concerned, adding another layer of intrigue to an already unusual interview. The slurred speech quickly became the focus of discussion, overshadowing much of the content of the conversation itself.
