Queen Camilla Reportedly ‘Heartbroken’ and ‘Upset’ by Recent Developments
Queen Camilla has had a challenging few weeks, balancing health issues with personal loss. Following her royal tour of Australia and Samoa with King Charles, she was advised to withdraw from several engagements due to a chest infection and also faced heartbreak with the death of her beloved rescue dog, Beth.
Speaking with The Sun’s “Royal Exclusive,” royal photographer Arthur Edwards reflected on Camilla’s absence from significant Remembrance Day events at the Royal Albert Hall and the Cenotaph. “And for her to miss those—obviously the reason was because she’s coughing all the time, she didn’t want to embarrass anybody—that would have been tragic,” Edwards said.
The Queen had been experiencing lingering symptoms that impacted her ability to attend. Adding to her challenges, The Sun reported that Camilla would have been left heartbroken by the recent death of her rescue Jack Russell, Beth.” Edwards fondly recalled Beth’s importance to Camilla, saying, “I remember once seeing [the dog] on an engagement down in Wiltshire, and the lady that walks them every day came along to see The Queen doing this engagement.”
He noted that when Camilla saw the dogs, “she went over and played with the dogs, and it made a better picture than the rest of the engagement.” Beth held a special place in Camilla’s heart, and Edwards emphasized her bond with animals, shared by King Charles. “They were special to her and also to The King. I mean, The King absolutely loves animals,” he said, adding that her loss would have been deeply upsetting.
Despite the difficult period, Edwards assured that Queen Camilla remains committed to her royal duties. “Her main role is obviously to support The King, and she will be getting on with it now,” he said. He also speculated that Camilla might consider adopting another rescue dog in the future.
Camilla’s absence from the Royal Variety Performance was another notable decision, reportedly made to avoid disrupting the event. A source told the Daily Mail, “[S]he didn’t want to spoil anyone else’s enjoyment with her cough.”
The Queen is said to be recovering but continues to experience persistent symptoms that can affect her speech. As she returns to her royal duties, Queen Camilla’s resilience and dedication to her role within the Royal Family remain evident, even in the face of health challenges and personal loss.
