Prince Harry appears lost in thought, as no charm is visible after King Charles’s snub, Royal expert
Prince Harry’s emotions were evident upon his return to America after a trip to Nigeria with Meghan Markle. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were seen at the Los Angeles airport on Monday after an 18-hour flight. Meghan led the way as they left the airport, with Harry following behind, appearing downcast.
Royal expert Tom Quinn noted Harry seemed upset, suggesting it could be linked to his brief UK visit earlier this month. Harry had been hoping to visit his father, King Charles, during the trip, but it was reported the monarch was too busy to meet.
Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, Tom said: “Harry tried desperately to put a brave face on it during his recent visit to the UK, but his real feelings were apparent when he landed back in Los Angeles. It was impossible not to see how downcast and upset he looked.
“And it’s no surprise because he had hoped to see his father and for a good deal longer than their 30-minute meeting last time he was in the UK.” Harry previously returned to the UK in February, where he met with King Charles at Clarence House.
In a statement, they said: “It, unfortunately, will not be possible due to His Majesty’’s full program. The Duke of course is understanding of his father’s diary of commitments and various other priorities and hopes to see him soon.”
However, the father and son did not reunite during Harry’s UK trip earlier this month. Harry returned to the UK for engagements related to the Invictus Games. A spokesperson for Harry had said Charles was too busy to meet with his son.
Conflicting reports suggest the monarch did offer to see his son, but Harry turned down the offer. Sources claim Charles offered to let Harry stay in a royal residence during the trip, but Harry chose to stay in a hotel instead. This suggestion was reportedly made because Charles knew Harry no longer had an official residence in the UK.
Harry and Meghan were formerly residents of Frogmore Cottage but were evicted last year. This lack of a permanent home in the UK may have added to the strain between Harry and his father. The Sunday Times reported that Charles made the offer to accommodate Harry, knowing he would need a place to stay during his visit.
Upon his return to the United States, Harry’s demeanor suggested the emotional toll of his brief UK visit and the unresolved issues with his father. The trip to Nigeria with Meghan may have been intended to provide some respite, but it appears the underlying tensions remain.
Harry and Meghan continue to navigate their lives away from the royal family, focusing on their own projects and commitments. Their recent trip to Nigeria was part of their ongoing efforts to engage with global issues and support various causes.
Despite the challenges and emotional strains, Harry remains committed to his work with the Invictus Games and other initiatives close to his heart. Meghan, as always, stands by his side, supporting him through these turbulent times.
