King Charles reportedly made significant efforts to welcome Meghan Markle into the royal family. His Majesty, who is currently battling cancer, was especially keen on fostering a close-knit family after Prince Harry’s wedding to Meghan in 2018.

Speaking about the King’s attempts to ensure Meghan felt accepted, royal author Robert Jobson explained, “At first, Charles tried to reach out to Meghan and treated her with the same love and affection as he did Catherine. But they are very different characters.”

“He welcomed her with open arms and wanted her to feel part of the family. That is why Harry and Meghan’s behavior has cut him to the quick,” reports the Express.

Jobson’s book further reveals, “Before all this happened, Charles was much closer to his second son than to William. But if there is a positive to be taken from the Sussexes’ departure, it is that William and his father are now closer than they were before, perhaps more than they have ever been.”

The revelations highlight the emotional toll the situation has taken on King Charles. Despite his efforts to integrate Meghan into the family, the fallout from Harry and Meghan’s departure has deeply affected him. However, it has also brought a silver lining in the form of a strengthened relationship between Charles and William.

As King Charles continues to navigate his responsibilities while dealing with his health issues, the complexities of familial relationships remain at the forefront. The King’s efforts to welcome Meghan illustrate his desire for unity and harmony within the royal family, even amid challenging circumstances.
