Expert Criticizes Prince Harry’s Alleged Plans to Return to the UK Amid Ongoing Life in the US
Royal commentator Daniela Elser has expressed skepticism about recent reports suggesting Prince Harry is seeking a return to the UK, claiming the Duke of Sussex is out of touch with such a move given his current lifestyle.
In her piece for News.com.au, Elser addressed reports from the Daily Mail that Prince Harry is distancing himself from Hollywood publicists and seeking advice from old friends and associates. The report suggested a bid to “bring our boy home,” implying a potential return to the UK for the prince.
However, Elser pushed back against this notion, stating, “Let us duly note that ‘bring our boy home’ makes it sound like he is being held hostage, which is quite the super-sized serving of misogyny.” She argued that Prince Harry, far from being trapped, is “busy drinking oat lattes and mooning over his business empire-aspiring wife” rather than facing any sort of repressive situation.
Elser also pointed out the significant omission of Meghan Markle from these discussions about Prince Harry’s future. “There is one word crucially lacking from the Mail’s piece: Meghan. What of the duchess in this plan to ‘rehabilitate’ the duke?” she asked.
Given the difficulties Meghan faced during her time in the UK, including the extreme mental health struggles she revealed, Elser finds it hard to imagine a scenario where the Duchess of Sussex would willingly return to that environment. “I cannot see any scenario, no matter how fantastical, where the duchess would gladly return, even very occasionally, to a life or role in the UK after she suffered to such an extreme degree she was left feeling suicidal last time,” Elser concluded.
With this in mind, Elser cast doubt on the idea of Prince Harry making a return to the UK, suggesting that such a move would be highly complicated and unlikely given the couple’s current situation.
