Prince Harry’s ‘Ruthlessness’ Sparks Fears of Permanent Royal Rift, Says Former Diana Butler
Concerns are growing about Prince Harry’s behavior and its impact on his relationship with the royal family, according to Paul Burrell, Princess Diana’s former butler. Burrell, who served Diana until her tragic death, recently shared his thoughts on the Duke of Sussex’s isolation and what he views as an increasingly “ruthless” approach.
In an interview with Slingo, Burrell commented on the growing estrangement between Harry and the royal family, particularly following the death of Queen Elizabeth II. Burrell noted that the likelihood of reconciliation seems slim. “Harry is no longer invited to family functions. He’s no longer invited into their fold,” Burrell explained, adding, “Now he’s no longer royal in their eyes.”
Burrell attributed much of this estrangement to Harry’s actions, stating, “He’s hurt them: he’s hurt his father, his brother, his sister-in-law, his stepmother.” According to Burrell, Harry has alienated many who were once close to Princess Diana, saying, “He’s been quite ruthless in hurting so many people.” He added that only the Spencers, Diana’s family, seem to have “escaped his wrath.”
Burrell also reflected on the late Queen’s feelings, explaining that Harry’s decisions caused her significant distress in her final years. “He upset his grandmother towards the end of her life, brought worries to her door which she didn’t understand,” Burrell noted.
Looking forward, Burrell expressed deep concern over the state of the royal rift, saying, “That rift has grown so wide now. I don’t think it can be bridged. I think it’s irreparable.” He concluded by lamenting that the only person who could have potentially healed the relationship was Diana herself, adding, “And she’s not here.” Burrell’s comments highlight the ongoing tension between Prince Harry and the royal family, as many wonder if the damage done can ever be repaired.
