“Now he’s accused of killing this beautiful young girl, 22 years old, prime of her life” Trump Lawyer Discusses Presidential Immunity Amid Questions on Biden’s Responsibility for Tragic Incident

During a Newsmax interview, host Lidia Bastianich questioned Donald Trump’s attorney, Alina Habba, about the potential for President Joe Biden to face legal action after the tragic death of Georgia nursing student Laken Riley, who was allegedly killed by an undocumented immigrant. Bastianich expressed concerns over Biden’s immigration policies, suggesting they might bear some responsibility for such incidents.

“We saw what happened with that Venezuelan illegal alien who is now accused of killing that nursing student, Laken Riley,” Bastianich told Habba during a Sunday interview. “Now he’s accused of killing this beautiful young girl, 22 years old, prime of her life. Does Joe Biden have blood on his hands at this point, Alina?”

“100%” Habba replied. “Look, the whole thing with our borders, the whole thing with them bringing these people into that they could vote in November because they need 10 million more votes to beat Trump.”

Bastianich also criticized Biden’s focus on polls and accused his administration of dishonest tactics to gain an advantage in the 2024 elections. She raised the question of whether Riley’s family could hold Biden accountable through legal means, given his policies on immigration and border control.

Habba, however, highlighted the principle of presidential immunity, which she argued should protect both Biden and Trump from lawsuits related to actions taken while in office. She referenced the legal stance of Trump’s team, which has claimed that the former president is immune from prosecution in his election interference case due to this principle.

Despite acknowledging the desire for accountability, Habba emphasized the complexity of suing a sitting or former president due to the protections afforded by presidential immunity. She suggested that such legal actions might not be the most effective response to the broader issue of border security and immigration policy.

Habba’s comments reflect the legal and ethical dilemmas surrounding presidential immunity and the challenges faced by those seeking justice in politically charged cases. The discussion underscores the tension between the need for accountability in leadership and the protections designed to ensure presidents can perform their duties without fear of constant litigation.
